Smithsonite Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia, South West Africa. Ex. Thomas G. Fowler collection. I think there were only two specimens like this in the collection, the other being less important and smaller, having smithsonites crystals with such pronounced phantoms. Two generations of smithsonite are seen with the first being prismatic crystals of a pink to white color, transparent and small. The second are larger, to .7 cm with bright yellow/tan colored phantoms. The piece measures 7.1 x 5.2 x 3.2 cm overall. It is visually aesthetic and stands on edge. There is no damage and only minor matrix contact along one edge. It views from any direction and is different from all directions. The back is composed of several flat plates with crystals fully formed and less densely dispersed throughout. Attractive and unusual for the species. $2,500
