Grossular and Diopside    York River Skarn Zone, near Bancroft, Ontario.  Collected by Michael Walter, early 1990s.  Now a Provincial Park, these garnets have become difficult to find for sale.  Normally they are very small, seldom close to a cm in diameter.  This one ranks as HUGE.  The piece is composed of several crystals that are individually up to 6.5 cm.  The grouping measures 9.5 x 8.5 x 6.3.  The piece is has moderate luster but very nice crystal form and good translucent/ transparency.  Some damage as seen but in very good condition overall.  It views well from all directions except base and back.  Seldom are crystals of this magnitude encounter.  $600
