Fluorite    Yongchung County, Quanzhou, Fujian Province, China.  These outstanding fluorites have recently made a big appearance on the mineral market under the descriptor, “tanzanite fluorite” due to their amazing bluish purple color.  The crystals form in a dodecahedral/ cube combination form that is very attractive and they are normally totally transparent!  This matrix specimen measures 8.4 x 5.4 x 5 cm and is composed of intergrown crystals to a whopping 5.7 cm each.  This is a fine example and the edge contacts that were once attached crystals are mostly naturally healed.  There is a minimal amount of matrix so the light transmission is acceptable.  Tiny chatter on one edge of the big crystal is visible but not overly distracting.  It sits beautifully on edge.  These big crystals command big prices but for my money the specimens with one to two cm crystals are the most attractive.  $650
