Fluorite Yongchung County, Quanzhou, Fujian Province, China. These fluorites made a big splash on the mineral market when they initially appeared in 2019. They have been refered to as "Tanzanite Fluorite" due to their amazing color. It is a very attractive, rich bluish purple that by all accounts is natural. If these specimens were altered we most certainly have heard about it by now. They are likely the finest colored fluorites to date from this prolific mineral producing country. The crystals get larger than those I offer, however they seldom transmit any light to show off their color when larger than a couple of centimeters in size.
This one shows intergrown cubododecahedral crystals to 2.6 cm on edge. These crystals are in a cluster high on the specimen allowing for excellent light transmission. It is a matrix specimen measuring 7.3 x 5.3 x 3 cm. It shows exceptional crystal transparency and color for a matrix specimen (as the matrix is opaque). This is a damage-free piece with no edge contacts. It is not oiled and has excellent luster for this material. This is the finest small cabinet sized example of this material I was able to find at the 2020 Tucson show for any price. This material in larger specimens does not mean "better". Specimens of this size are likely the finest available. This one comes with a custom engraved acrylic base. $1,000
