Calcite Empire State Mine, Level 3,981, “Purple Fox Hole”, Balmat, St. Lawrence County, New York. Collected September 2022. This fabulous piece is an exceptionally rare floater (no points of matrix contact)! There is a small region that appears to be a healed crystal contact. It measures 5.1 x 4.3 x 2.7 cm. It is a transparent Rossie habit twin with nice modifications, interesting surface features that have a stepped appearance (mostly on one side that I’d call the back). The luster is exceptionally high and the color is a light lavender. There are a couple tiny “Wilbers” on one face so I can’t bill it as totally damage-free. This is an unusually fine example for Balmat. $1,950
