Calcite   Empire State Mine, Level 3,981, “Purple Fox Hole”, Balmat, St. Lawrence County, New York.  Collected September 2023.  This is a rare, small example from an important pocket that only produced a few specimens of this size.  It is a modified schalenohedron that is damage-free and cleaved on its base where it was removed from the calcite wall rock.  Light lavender, almost no color, amazing high luster, and it does fit in a thumbnail perky box.  Several small faces have micro pyrite inclusions.  $175
