Calcite Empire State Mine, Level 3,981, “Purple Fox Hole”, Balmat, St. Lawrence County, New York. Collected September 2022. This example is a penetration twin that the miners refer to as “arrowheads”. It measures 7 x 5.2 x 3.2 cm and is in perfect condition on top and all sides (the bottom is cleaved off of the calcite matrix it formed on). Many areas of the crystal are completely transparent. The surfaces are of the highest luster and have mixed textures. Light lavender color typical of this pocket. $450
