Calcite    4,051 Level, Lower Mahler, Empire State Mine, Balmat, St. Lawrence County, New York.  On June 8th, 2023 and enormous pocket was hit at Balmat.  It is the most impressive discovery in the long history of this important New York State zinc mine.  Numerous fine colored calcites were recovered over approximately a month of work by miners.  This piece measures 11 x 11 x 6.3 cm and is composed of transparent and translucent crystals to over 8 cm each.  It is an attractive cluster with fantastic luster and form.  The top section has a wonderful, transparent Rossie habit twin one edge has contact as seen and there is a surface scratch low on one crystal on the back of the piece.  Displays great!  $960
